New Resident Involvement Champion for the South West

Carrick Housing have stepped down as RIC for the South West, and asked that Poole Housing Partnership take over this role. We were only too happy to step into these huge shoes, this wasn't because we think we are the best in the South West but because we feel we have a strong commitment to achieving excellence in the field.

About Poole Housing Partnership (PHP)

Poole Housing Partnership is an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), which was set-up under the Government scheme to bring investment for improvements to homes across the Borough of Poole.
The success of PHP secured funding of £35.4million for homes across Poole. This, along with additional investment from the Borough of Poole's resources, meant that a total of £50-60 million was available up to 2010 for improving the Council's housing stock.
Poole Housing Partnership is a non-profit making organisation managed by a Board of Directors.  The 15 members of the Board are made up of 5 Councillors from all political parties, 5 residents and leaseholders and 5 independent people with professional skills to help run the service.
Being a non-profit making organisation means that any 'surplus' is invested back into the housing stock.  Although we have strong links with the Council, we operate as a separate Arms Length company and our aim is the delivery of services which are second to none in the country.

Our aims as Resident Involvement Champions
  • Share best practice amongst all housing providers - we want to hear about what your organisation is doing and what you have achieved over the last year.
  • Continue the good work that Carrick Housing has started - Carrick developed the matchmaking service, this was focused on pairing landlords together who were able to share ideas around a specific topic.
  • Host one learning exchange in 2011/12 - learning exchanges are planned to share best practice around a certain topic. We want to hear from you which topic you would like the agenda.
  • Keep the South West pages of the website up to date - this will allow all housing providers to gain the most they can from the website and share best practice. PHP will submit a monthly article about what we are achieving here, not only do we want to submit what we are doing but also what you are doing. So please e-mail any articles through and we would be happy to publish them on your behalf.
  • Write directly to all housing providers in the South West - we will be introducing ourselves to Resident Involvement Workers over the next couple of months, this will either be by letter or e-mail.
