RESIDENTS HAVE THEIR SAY IN THE FUTURE DESIGN OF HOUSING

OVER TWENTY Residents attended a recent seminar in Dorchester, Dorset to look at the future design of housing.
Architects, housebuilders, suppliers of eco products and staff were on hand to lead workshops which covered areas such as identifying important design features for residents, wheelchair design requirements, and kitchen design. The views obtained from residents will now be used to review the Source design brief for future new developments.
The event was organised through Source Development Partnership and residents from all partners were invited to attend it.
Trixie Lye, a Signpost resident said, ”This was an excellent event which brought together people with a real interest in the future design of homes. It was interesting to learn about the challenges that do face housing associations for example weighing up the cost versus the benefit of various initiatives. Being a wheelchair user I particularly liked the focus on wheelchair accessibility.”
Andrew Lawrie, Divisional Director at Spectrum added,” The event proved immensely popular and it was unfortunate that we had to restrict the numbers due to the capacity of the venue. Those that were able to come along had a real input and the Partnership has taken away lots of excellent suggestions which will now inform changes to our Design & Project Toolkit.”
