An effective compact should carefully define and explain an agreement between a housing provider and its tenants, charting what will be undertaken on both sides, both at the present time and in the future. A sound tenant compact is a 'must-have' document for any housing provider seeking to improve the calibre of its resident involvement and tenant services generally.
Carrick tenants and leaseholders signed such an agreement with what was then Carrick District Council way back in August 2000. Since that time, Carrick Housing was formed as an ALMO and this document has been regularly updated. The compact essentially brings together in one document how we will work together with our tenants and residents to improve their housing and housing services. The thoroughness of the tenant participation compact was one reason which has contributed to Carrick Housing attaining a 3* rating. Through formal, public agreements of this kind, better accountability and sharper neighbourhood planning, we are concentrating on making our area a better place to live.
